Preheat the oven to 180 degrees C and line two baking trays with baking parchment.
Mix the dry ingredients together then rub in the butter or margarine. Mix in the egg then add sufficient milk to make a stiff dough. Roll out thinly and cut into 7.5cm rounds.
Place on the baking trays and bake for about 15 minutes until just beginning to turn a light golden brown. Remove from the oven and sprinkle with brown sugar whilst still warm. Transfer to a wire rack to cool..
* If I only have quick porridge oats in the cupboard I give them a quick blast in the food processor then proceed as with the medium oatmeal.
