Dropped Scones (Scotch Pancakes)

We love these for breakfast, warm with maple syrup or with butter and jam for teatime.

  • 200 g SR flour
  • 100 g caster sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 120 ml milk to mix

Dropped Scones (Scotch Pancakes) Directions

  1. 1. Stir together the flour and sugar. Make a well in the centre of the flour, add the egg then gradually beat in sufficient milk to make a thick {mosgloss=batter} (if its too runny, it will spread right over the pan).
  2. 2. Cook 4 or 5 at a time: Heat a non stick frying pan then drop in spoonfuls of the mixture. Cook for about 3 minutes each. The underside should be brown and you will notice that the upper side is covered in bubbles.
  3. 3. Turn over and cook until the other side is brown. Delicious warm or cold.
