Pre-heat the oven to 180 degrees C / gas mark 4, grease and line the base of a shallow 20cm square baking tin.
Using a medium sized saucepan, melt together the butter, sugar and syrup. Stir in the rolled oats & mix thoroughly. Tip into the tin, smooth the top and bake for about 25 - 30 minutes until golden. Cut into slices whilst still warm then let it cool completely before removing from the tin.
