Bavarian Red Cabbage

 I love this with roast chicken or turkey and, this red cabbage is delicious hot or cold.

Ingredients

For 4 people

Recipe

  • 25 g butter
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 1/2 red cabbage, finely shredded
  • 1 cooking apple, peeled and sliced
  • 25 g demerara sugar
  • 150 ml dry cider
  • 1/2 lemon
  • pinch cinnamon
  • 3 cloves
  • 1 bay leaf

Bavarian Red Cabbage Directions

  1. 1. Place the butter in a large microwave casserole dish and cook on high for 1 minute. Add the onion and cook on high for 2 minutes.
  2. 2. Stir in all the other ingredients. Cover (with pierced microwave film) and microwave on high for 12 minutes. Remove the cloves and bay leaf before serving.
