Cheesy Potatoes

A classic comfort food which cooks quite easily alongside Succulent Roast Chicken.

For 6 people


  • 6 medium potatoes
  • large handful (or 2) of grated cheese
  • black pepper
  • 200 ml cream
  • 200 ml milk
  • pinch of mixed herbs

Cheesy Potatoes Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 180 degrees C.
  2. 1. Peel, half and slice the potatoes about 5mm thickness.
  3. 2. In a shallow oven-proof dish, alternate layers of potato with the grated cheese and pepper.
  4. 3. Whisk together the cream and milk and pour over the potatoes. Sprinkle with mixed herbs and paprika.
  5. 4. Bake about 1 1/2 hours alongside a meat roast.
  6. Hint: This will hold beautifully while you carve  - simply cover with foil, turn off the heat and leave in the oven until you are ready to serve.
