Salmon Cakes

I always buy salmon in bulk when it is on offer at the fish counter and salmon cakes are a satisfying throwback to years gone by ..... I love dipping them in HP (brown) sauce!

For 4 people


  • 200 g cooked salmon (skinned & boned)
  • 200 g mashed potato
  • dill (optional)
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 25 g flour
  • 50 g breadcrumbs

Salmon Cakes Directions

  2. 1. Using a fork, mix together the salmon, potato, dill and seasoning with sufficient egg to bind the mixture together.
  3. 2. Divide into 4 pieces and shape into balls.
  4. 3. Coat each of the balls in flour, then dip into the egg followed by the breadcrumbs. Flatten into patties and neaten with a palette knife.
  5. 4. You can either deep fry for 2 - 3 minutes or shallow fry in olive oil for a couple of minutes either side or until thoroughly heated.
