Chinese Style Chicken Wings

I've included this in the Midweek Express section as it requires minimal effort, though it does need to be started the day before and has about 45 minutes in the oven. Serve with rice and vegetables which have been finely sliced and stir-fried in sesame oil, a slug of soya sauce and perhaps a little chilli sauce.

Chinese Style Chicken Wings Directions

  1. 1. Place all the ingredients, other than the chicken, into a large zip-lock food bag and shake to mix.
  2. 2. Place the chicken into the bag with the marinade. Seal the bag, place in a dish and refrigerate overnight.
  3. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees C
  4.  3. Tip the chicken and marinade into an ovenproof dish (*) and bake, uncovered, for about 45 minutes after which the cooked chicken will be coated in a delicious sticky glaze.
  5. Hint: Use chicken wings, as directed, or substitute any other chicken joint which you may prefer. If you increase the quantity of meat, remember to increase the marinades.
  6.  * don't use the dish straight from the fridge - it will crack if you place it directly in the hot oven.
